My Journey as an Informatics Student
From learning basic programming to building real-world web applications, this is the story of my journey as an Informatics student and how university shaped my path as a developer.
The Beginning
Choosing Informatics as my major was one of the biggest decisions in my life. At the beginning of college, I only had a basic understanding of programming and technology. I was curious about how applications and websites worked behind the scenes, and that curiosity slowly became my passion.
Early College Experience
During my early semesters, I learned the fundamentals of programming, databases, algorithms, and software engineering. At first, adapting to coding was not easy. Debugging errors and understanding logic often took hours, but every challenge made me more motivated to improve.
Some of the subjects I enjoyed the most were web development and database systems because they allowed me to create something practical and useful.
Starting to Build Real Projects
As time went on, I started building small projects and experimenting with different technologies. This was the moment I realized that learning by building projects was far more effective than only studying theory.
I explored technologies such as:
- Laravel
- React.js
- Next.js
- Tailwind CSS
- MySQL
- PostgreSQL
Final Projects and Experiences
One of the most valuable experiences during college was developing academic information systems for schools. Through these projects, I learned how to manage both frontend and backend development while also understanding how software solves real administrative problems.
Building these systems taught me:
- Team collaboration
- Problem solving
- Database design
- API development
- UI/UX implementation
Lessons Learned
College was not only about technical skills. I also learned:
- Communication
- Time management
- Adaptability
- Continuous learning
Every project, assignment, and challenge contributed to my growth as a developer.
Conclusion
Looking back, my journey as an Informatics student was filled with challenges, learning experiences, and personal growth. It became the foundation that prepared me for internships, independent study programs, and eventually working in the technology industry.
